The Challenge

The Leading Student Achievement: Our Principal Purpose initiative was developed in response to the 2004 announcement of the Ontario Ministry of Education that "75 per cent of 12-year-olds reach provincial standard on province-wide testing by 2008."

Goals of the Leading Student Achievement Project

• Improve student achievement in literacy and numeracy
• Build the instructional leadership capacity of school leaders to support effective classroom practices in literacy and numeracy

How will we achieve our goals?

• Engage in trilevel capacity building in schools, districts and across the province
• Support principals in principal learning teams as they build professional learning communities in their schools
