Accessible Ontario: A Guide to Implementation for Senior School Staff in School Boards

The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) states the goal of having an Accessible Ontario by 2025. The first step in achieving that goal is meeting the Accessibility Standards for Customer Service, with which school boards must comply by January 2010.

The Ontario Education Services Corporation, with the assistance of senior staff from a variety of school boards, has developed template policies and procedures along with appropriate training packages currently under development.

The webinar has been developed for senior staff, including but not limited to the Director of Education, so that a team may participate. Only one person per team should register for this conference.

Please note: This webinar will be conducted in English. However, materials for the webinar will be available in French and English and the Q and A period during the webinar will be conducted in both languages.

This webinar has been designed to:

  • Provide an overview of the Act that will meet the compliance requirements for senior staff
  • Provide an interactive Q & A session related to senior management issues surrounding implementation
  • Update senior staff on training availability in order to facilitate professional development planning
  • Provide updates where possible regarding compliance reporting and the development of other standards
