Subject Documents

Boards who wish to offer these LDCC courses must follow the approval process for locally developed credit courses and submit the necessary approval form to their respective Ministry of Education district office. These courses have been reviewed by the Ministry of Education for use by school boards, and therefore the processing of the school board approval will be expedited.

Course Profiles

Teacher writing teams prepared Course Profiles to support the Locally Developed Compulsory Credit Courses for Grades 9 and 10 in English, Mathematics, and Science, and for Grade 10 Canadian History.

The Course Profiles are designed to be equally useful to teachers in both public and Catholic schools. The writing teams were comprised of teachers from both systems.

Professional Development Resources

These presentation materials are provided for school board staff who wish to work with the new LDCC Courses and Course Profiles.

This LDCC Professional Development package contains guidelines and information for the presenters. It is intended to assist presenters in the delivery of professional development sessions related to the new LDCC courses and Course Profiles. Along with three sets of presentation slides, it provides program content and logistics and can serve as a reference for coordinating and conducting professional development sessions.

A New Bridge to Success - Background to the LDCC Initiative (96 KB PowerPoint file)
This set of presentation slides provides background to frame the LDCC project and the process that was followed in developing the courses and their supporting Course Profiles.

LDCC - Building Capacity and Planning for Sustainability (260 KB PowerPoint file)
The LDCC courses provide a vehicle for supporting teachers, schools, and boards in their programming for learners who would benefit from these courses. This session provides an opportunity for educators at all levels of the system to reflect, dialogue, and share their ideas and continue their planning for meeting the needs of these learners.

This set of slides provides a context and an introductory activity for presenters who are leading a session in which the participants closely examine the courses and related Course Profiles and how they can support the learner in achieving success.

LDCC Courses and Course Profiles (Workshop Models)
Outlines for subject specific sessions provide a basis for presenters to tailor the workshop for the audience and time available. Models for examining the subject documents and the related Course Profiles are provided for English, Mathematics, Science, and History.
