With a focus on the fascinating world of black bears, the Black Bear Ecology program provides teachers with a classroom ready resource. This program aims to generate awareness about black bears - their biological needs; their behaviour and how human action influences bears. The program also covers how people can prevent encounters, know what to do during an encounter and how to prevent attracting bears to communities. The series contains three booklets for teachers. Each booklet includes background readings for teachers; unit at a glance; lesson plans and suggested activities as well as a comprehensive Resources section which includes a glossary, list of books, web sites and information sheets about black bears.
