Curriculum Correlation
Catch a Falling Star addresses elements of mental illness in a non-threatening, sensitive manner through a fantasy story with a dragon as a main character. The high quality illustrations contribute to the visual appeal of the book. Adults using this story will require knowledge of the child with whom they are reading the story along with his or her own personal experiences, and preparation for considerable discussion in order to use this material appropriately. It would be best used with individuals or small groups with common needs. In a clinical setting, professionals who are trained in the area of mental illness could contextualize the story and respond to individual children's questions and responses

Review Recommendation
Catch a Falling Star is recommended as a resource that can provide information in a sensitive and non-threatening context to young children who are exhibiting signs of mental illness.
