This unit is designed to address expectations as outlined in the Ontario Curriculum Social Studies - Heritage and Citizenship: Grade 6 - Aboriginal Peoples. The resource package consists of First Nation Community profiles that are specific to the communities that comprise the Ogemawahj Tribal Council - Alderville, Beausoleil, Georgina Island, Scugog Island, Mnjikaning, and Moose Deer Point. Also included is a set of Classroom Activities for use by teachers. The focus is the contemporary First Nation community. The materials were produced by First Nation community members and advisors. "We believe that our involvement in curriculum development is of the utmost importance for only we can offer the authenticity to the content that must be there."
