This free teaching resource for Grade 4 to 8 Social Science explores the people, history, values, and achievements reflected in the sites, symbols, stories, and attractions of Canada's capital. The Gathering Place examines how our national capital represents the essence of our nation: our identity, our stories, how we make decisions as a people, and how we are connected to the world. Through participating in the experiences provided in this resource, students unable to visit Canada's capital in person can engage and interact with key features of the capital and begin to see the living history and dynamic nature of our country that is reflected in its streets, buildings, monuments, and treasures.
