Great achievement can only be found in taking calculated risks. As educators, you are constantly encouraging students to take risks or take the unfamiliar path. Know Your Risk complements your health and life skills curricula by developing students' risk management skills, so that students can better understand the risks they take and to decide when a risk is not worth taking.
Know Your Risk shows students how to embrace risk while protecting oneself from possible negative consequences. All risks possess a level of danger for which we may be fearful. It is therefore necessary for students to develop an ability to gauge the level of risk they are undertaking and to develop protective factors that keep them from harm's way.
This resource offers many opportunities for students to practise vicarious risk-taking in the safety of the classroom. There are a total of eight lessons each with teacher notes, detailed lesson plans and engaging activities.
