c.a.r.e. kit – personal safety program for children in Kindergarten to Grade 3

Publisher's Description

c.a.r.e., Challenge Abuse through Respect Education, is a personal safety program for children ages 5-9, with a focus on child sexual abuse prevention and internet safety. Key messages are taught through a combination of story telling, educational resources and experiential activities.

Designed to be delivered in schools and other learning environments, c.a.r.e. focuses on body ownership and these simple personal safety rules:

Lessons and interactive activities deal with appropriate and inappropriate touching. Concepts like privacy, bribery, and secrecy are explored through games, stories and activities. Children also learn how to seek help from helping people.

c.a.r.e. aims to help prevent the ongoing tragedy of abuse by equipping children with the knowledge and skills they need to help protect themselves from sexual abuse.

c.a.r.e. has also been revised to incorporate cultural and family diversity, and new materials and resources address children with special needs. This is especially relevant, because these children are particularly vulnerable to abuse.

The c.a.r.e. Kit contains everything needed to deliver the program, including Discussion Cards, a Resource Guide with lesson plans and suggested activities, a recorded song, a Trusty puppet, bookmarks for learners and booklets for parents. Each kit costs $234.95 (discounts are offered when you purchase 5 or more).

Use the program year after year! Replenisher kits containing 30 bookmarks and 30 Keeping Our Kids Safe booklets are just $36.74

A one-day training course offered through RespectED is recommended to help familiarize teachers and other professionals with child sexual abuse issues and kit content. Training is included in the kit on CD Rom or can be organized in person for a fee. Call 1-888-307-7997 or you local Red Cross office to arrange.
