Content
Taking Stock In Your Future: Intermediate links relevant mathematical concepts with applications and references to the world beyond the classroom. It addresses mathematical skills and concepts such as computations/operations, applications, measurement, relations, variables and equations, and data management. This resource integrates language with mathematics content to investigate issues and problems that develop financial literacy. A detailed chart identifies the connections between the exercises and the mathematical concepts. Included in this resource are suggestions for additional resources, websites, and reference material.

Methodology
Through meaningful learning activities, students learn and apply a variety of thinking and problem-solving skills, e.g., independent research, analysis, and making personal interpretations about information. The resource includes a variety of instructional/learning strategies and a comprehensive outline for planning an effective mathematics program, using a top-down design model. Each activity identifies the expected learning and the prerequisite knowledge and skills required to work through the task. The resource includes clear instructions for the exercises and solutions to the problems. The tasks make cross-curricular links to language and to the use of technology in learning mathematics.
