CSC Evaluation

Curriculum Correlation
The B&B Wall Maps, Nos. 23, 25-30, 38-39, 45, 48, 50, 51, 56, 64 support Geography and History in the Intermediate and Secondary grades and Social Studies in the Primary and Junior grades in Canadian schools.

Content
The B&B Wall Maps follow important cartographic conventions suitable and useful for the instruction and learning process. Each map includes a legend, scale, and appropriate labelling and colours. The super-imposition of the title and an overload of information in the insets on some of the maps may be distracters to use.

Methodology
The projection, e.g., conical, and the vertical representation used for each map are appropriate to the purpose that is identified on the map. These multi-purpose wall maps support teaching and learning in a range of curriculum areas and grade levels, e.g. nos. 25-30 are presented as a series of political maps that support Canadian & World Studies. The insets included on many of the maps are purposeful and provide contextual information that is useful in interpreting the maps.

Assessment
N/A

Format
The titles indicate the purpose of each map and its possible link with curriculum topics. Maps that form part of a series (Nos.25-30) are presented in a consistent format. The visual presentation used for the wall maps is clear and the labels are accurate and legible. The maps have a coated surface to allow teachers and students to write on them with erasable markers. As wall maps, they are of an appropriate size and durability to support classroom instruction.

Bias
The content is presented from a balanced perspective with appropriate sensitivity to cultural and historical issues. The projection used for the maps appropriately illustrates the information. In using the maps, teachers should be sensitive to students who may have difficulty differentiating the colours used in the representations on some of the maps.

Review Recommendation
The B&B Wall Maps, Nos. 23, 25-30, 38-39, 45, 48, 50, 51, 56, 64 are recommended to support Geography and History in the Intermediate and Secondary grades and Social Studies in the Primary and Junior grades in Canadian schools.
