The CSC Seal of Recommendation
The CSC Seal of Recommendation represents the highest standard in education resources. Our commitment to quality means learning resources can be selected with confidence.
Our longest-standing service area, Resource Evaluations, supports the approval process of English-language textbooks for the Ontario Ministry of Education. This service area also evaluates Pan-Canadian supplementary learning resources in English and French with an increasing focus on new technology including e-learning, gaming, and mobile applications. Learning resources bearing the CSC Seal of Recommendation have passed a rigourous process of review. We take our evaluations and standards very seriously and undergo biennial quality control audits, which are independently conducted by Nipissing University.
Areas of Review
A learning resource with the CSC Seal has accurate and relevant content, is inclusive, and offers a balanced approach. CSC's recommendation also ensures that a resource supports current teaching and learning methods and presents information in an effective format that is suitable for the targeted audience.
We have worked with the Ontario Ministry of Education to evaluate and recommend textbooks for English-language schools in Ontario. The evaluation is required for government approval and posting on the Ontario Trillium List. Textbooks that are eligible for use in Ontario classrooms are included on the Trillium List.
What is Eligible for Review?
CSC evaluates learning resources for all ages and for all settings, including preschool, K-12, the workplace, and adult learning. CSC evaluates all formats including print, multimedia, and e-learning applications.
Our evaluation process has three levels of checks and balances to ensure consistency and fairness. After a rigorous evaluation process, approved learning resources earn the CSC Seal of Recommendation. The CSC Seal has become a recognized standard and many professionals insist on the Seal before they purchase supplementary resources.
