We are The Curriculum Foundation
We are making a difference in classrooms across the country — and we need your support. The Curriculum Foundation helps teachers produce critically needed supplementary resources every year to ensure Canadian children have current and up-to-date materials. When you make a donation to The Curriculum Foundation, you are helping us to use Canadian know-how to develop top-of-the-line educational tools, and you will be contributing to the quality of education for Canadian children.
Over the past four years, The Curriculum Foundation has developed 19 resources. These resources have already been downloaded by more than 36,000 teachers, which means they have been used by more than 790,000 students. All of this was achieved at a cost of $10,000 per resource — an extremely cost-efficient investment in our children's future.
Canadians believe in the importance of education. In public opinion polls, education is consistently at the top of our list of critical issues. However, the realities of a typical Canadian classroom would astonish most people.
- In Ontario, government funding for elementary and secondary schools in 2003 was almost $300 less per student than it was in 1997. The same situation occurs across Canada.
- In 2002, The Globe and Mail reported that the average Canadian teacher spent $500 of his or her own income on classroom supplies.
- In the last five years, 68% more Ontario elementary schools have started fundraising for classroom supplies through activities such as raffles and bake sales.
TCF offers individuals, organizations, and corporations the opportunity to help fill this gap at the grassroots level. When you make a tax-deductible donation to TCF, you can specify how your dollars should be spent. You can choose to contribute to our general fund, sponsor a specific project, or establish a new grant.
