Welcome to Learning Algebra Fundamentals

Purpose of the Resource

The CSC Seal of QualityIn Grades 7 through 10 mathematics curriculum, students are introduced to abstract algebraic concepts. These concepts are essential foundational skills required for success in senior secondary school mathematics and beyond. Students in these transitional grades have a wide range of abilities in these foundational concepts and those who have yet to master them often fail to achieve the level of success in mathematics that they need for their future endeavours.

As a subject in which each new concept builds upon preceding concepts, these foundational algebra skills are essential building blocks for student success in solving meaningful problems, communicating their solutions, and applying their mathematical learning.

This resource addresses fundamental algebra skills to help students be successful and to provide teachers and parents/caregivers with readily accessible material to support this learning. Whether students are learning the material for the first time or reviewing to master the concepts, these tutorials are progressively challenging to address a wide range of ability levels.

Thanks are extended to the RBC Foundation for their generous funding of this resource.
