About This Project
As part of the Ontario government's Domestic Violence Action Plan, the English-language Expert Panel developed support resources for elementary educators with the aim of helping to reduce woman abuse and creating better lives for women and children. This Panel included representatives from provincial elementary teacher organizations, principal councils and school and Native guidance associations. In addition, Panel members came from Ontario Faculties of Education, community-based groups providing support for immigrant and refugee women and organizations renowned and respected for their violence prevention work. The members gave their time and advice to provide resources that would help educators recognize the signs of abuse and know what action to take.
The training program developed by the English Language Expert Panel will be rolled out through Springtide Resources over three years.
The French Language Expert Panel, chaired and managed by the Association des directions et directions adjoints des écoles franco-ontariennes (ADFO) has developed training materials and an implementation plan for French language educators. These products take into account the francophone culture as well as the needs of the French language school system.
The training program developed by the French Language Expert Panel will be rolled out through ADFO over the next two years (2007-2009).
